What this site does

This is an editorial operation. We read spec sheets, weigh what separates one tier of hardware from the next, and translate aggregated owner experiences and firmware histories into plain-language guidance. A decade following Wi-Fi standards cycles and the prosumer access-point market taught us where manufacturer claims stop matching real-world behavior. Our job is to close that gap for enthusiasts who take their network seriously.

How we evaluate

  • We compare aggregate owner reports against the spec sheet — what people actually get versus what's promised.
  • Firmware and update histories matter: a router's long-term reliability lives in its changelog, not its launch review.
  • We weigh real-world scenarios — device counts, streaming loads, dead-zone patterns — against what each price tier delivers.
  • When a manufacturer's numbers don't match independent reports, we say so, and explain what to look for instead.
  • We distinguish between features that change your daily experience and features that exist to pad a comparison table.
